Churphena A. Reid, MD, FAAP

Education

Born in Trinidad, West Indies, Dr. Churphena Reid graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in 1984. She completed a residency in Pediatrics as well as her Urology residency at Loma Linda University in California. She then did a Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota from 1992-1994. Dr. Reid received her Urology board certification in 1999 and Pediatric Urology board certification in 2008.

Exceptional Care in a Specialized Field

As one of only 300 pediatric urologists in the country and the only one in downstate Illinois, Dr. Churphena Reid brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the field of pediatric urology. Her areas of interest include enuresis, dysfunctional voiding, undescended testes, as well as complex congenital anomalies. Dr. Reid is Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) where her expertise benefits students and residents in both the Surgery and Pediatrics Departments.

Dr. Reid has published extensively in the field of pediatric urology and has also lectured at length on pediatric reconstructive surgery, an area in which she has advanced training. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Society of Fetal Urology.

Personal

Dr. Reid and her husband live in the Peoria area. A strong supporter of the community, she serves on the Board of Directors of both The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria and the Peoria Fine Arts Guild. In late 2004, she was honored with the Patrick T. Sullivan Community Service Award.
